Children's Ministry Spotlight: Bob & Ruthy Storrs
We have so many outstanding people who volunteer in our children's ministry. We feel it is important to highlight a few of them.
Bob & Ruthy Storrs have impacted our entire Willow Creek Church family in a myriad of ways over the years. This husband and wife team prove to be some of the most dynamic children's ministry team members that our talented children's ministry team provides, and both have been sold out to telling our children about Jesus for years.
The Storrs' are committed to loving on the youngest of children in our ministry. For several years, Bob and Ruthy have served in our Pre-K ministry, teaching Sunday school during the 11am hour. During that time, Bob would play his guitar and lead the teaching time, while multiple children would sit in Ruthy's lap as she helped them engage in God's word intently. This was and is a wonderful pattern for how both spouses can use their gifting to serve the local church!
Last year, I asked Bob & Ruthy to move into the Children's Worship hour at 11am, which consisted of Bob leading worship and the 2 of them leading the Kindergarten small group after the Bible lesson. The joy that is found in the faces of our Kindergartners as they learn about Jesus and get to spend time with "Mr. Bob and Mrs. Ruthy" is a picture that must be experienced to be believed. One great example of this was when several children requested prayer for Mrs. Ruthy when she had missed children's worship due to sickness.
Ruthy is an amazingly talented person, participating in photography, wherein Bob offers his gracious, patient assistance. Our church staff saw first hand their good work when they volunteered to take our staff Christmas pictures as well as headshots this Spring. Ruthy's knack for drawing people together is clear, as she and Bob are constantly meeting new people at Willow Creek, inviting them to lunch, and participating in the lives of people.
These 2 wonderful human beings have experienced God's presence and grace in their lives. They have taught me so much in regards to loving their spouse well, maintaining faith in the midst of crisis, and always acknowledging that Jesus is the reason we come together and worship, no matter our age or stage of life.
God is moving our church forward, and we are so thankful for these wonderful 2 individuals who are included in our numbers. Thank you Storrs family, so much, for your faithful service to Willow Creek Church and for loving our Lord, our children, and our church family so well!
