Children's Ministry Spotlight: Cathy Mischuck
We have so many outstanding people who volunteer in our children's ministry. We feel it is important to highlight a few of them.
Cathy Mischuck and her husband Bob have been attending Willow Creek since early 2008. Cathy connected with the children's ministry, and began serving in 2008. Over the past 5 years, her and Bob have faithfully attended Willow Creek Church and been a part of the Steve and Jan Willis small group.
Cathy's heart is for children with special needs. In late 2008, Cathy, Jan Willis, and others started a special needs class, which includes current members David Downward and Bonnie Pearson. Over the past 2 years, Cathy has specifically worked with David and the 4th-5th grade Sunday School class in an effort to connect David with his peers. The result has been outstanding as David is fully invested with his classmates, is learning about who he is, who God is, and how Jesus is his Savior.
My observation of Cathy Mischuck is that she is one of the most courageous people I know. Despite personal health issues, and some very difficult life experiences, Cathy is constantly looking to serve our Lord by serving others. A specific example of this is her desire to memorize scripture and have David and the 4th-5th graders learn God's word. Each month, Cathy works very hard to have God's word memorize and then works to share her passion for God's word with her students.
We on the Willow Creek Church Children's Ministry team are SO excited to have Cathy Mischuck with us. We are humbled by her care, her attention to detail, and her love for others. Cathy and Bob are wonderful members of our church family and we are thankful for who they are. Thank you Cathy for your part in our church!
