Member Highlight: Jeff Smith
If you have attended Willow Creek Church on a Sunday morning, more than likely you have met Jeff Smith. Visible in the front lobby of the church, Jeff appears to always be visible, welcoming, presence as folks are entering into our worship center. But beyond serving as a comforting "face" at Willow Creek Church, Jeff serves as one of the primary "heartbeats" of the church, and the culture we desire to obtain. Jeff's heart has been radically changed by his relationship with Jesus.
Jeff has been an active member of Willow Creek for more than 20 years. During that time, Jeff eventually joined the church staff as an administrator and in his current role, Director of Member Care. Additionally, Jeff is a ruling elder at WCC, and has previously served for years on our Session.
Jeff has a real heart for people. He often states the phrase, "It's ok to not be ok." With that mantra in mind, Jeff regularly moves towards people who attend WCC or who are a part of our larger community through care, counsel, and prayer. Jeff serves as a leader on our Care Team, in which he regularly engages with those who are in dire or vulnerable financial positions. I personally have seen Jeff sit and lament with those who are hurting, allowing them to share the most vulnerable parts of themselves.
I have regularly noticed Jeff caring for our senior adults (SALT), visit folks in the hospital, and sit with people through our Grief Share ministry. Overall, many many individuals have been blessed by Jeff's ministry to our church. We are so thankful for you Jeff!
Please take a moment and thank Jeff Smith for being such a faithful member! We love ya'll at Willow Creek Church!
