WCC Children's Ministry Spotlight: Austin & Troy Smith

asdfjlk

We have so many outstanding people who volunteer in our children's ministry. We feel it is important to highlight a few of them.

Austin and Troy Smith are two young men who are learning and growing in their faith, and through that growth, are able to share with our children at Willow Creek Church. The fraternal twin boys are in their Junior year of high school, and are both active in SWITCH, our student ministry at WCC. Their parents are Jeff (an elder and staff member) and Cara (former nursery director and impactful church member).

Austin has developed his leadership abilities from behind the scenes. Austin serves in the A/V team for SWITCH, and in children's worship, Austin has connected with younger children, showing patience and care with our Kindergarten and 1st graders. At Vacation Bible School this past Summer, Austin did an outstanding job of leading our youngest children and always had children wanting to follow him to each station.

Troy has grown in maturity and wisdom as he has actively engaged with our children for a few years. Troy has served as an assistant in our IGNITE (mid-week children's) program. He always has children chasing him in the gym, and is quite athletically minded. Last VBS, Troy was a key component to our games station in the gym, and did an excellent job of transitioning children from 1 game to the next.

Both young men have a clear desire to serve God and others. What stands out to me, is despite being twins, each Smith boy has unique gifting and talents to our children's ministry team. We are excited to see them learn how to better care for themselves and others, and to remind our children and themselves that the "good news" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for all of us.

We are so thankful for Austin and Troy Smith, and their committment to our children's ministry and our church family!
